A Great New Site

August 24th, 2008 by mylightmagazine

A few days ago, I cam across a wonderful Catholic Magazine. Their Patron Saint is St. Maria Gorretti and is titled  “Saint Maria’s Messenger.” The beautifully designed site covers items in the Catholic faith, particularly relevant to girls ages “ten through teen.” Check it out if you get a chance: Saint Maria’s Messenger

Touched by an Angel’s Mission

August 21st, 2008 by mylightmagazine

I was so excited to find out about a wonderful mission  Editor Anna Snape is working on.  She, too, has been inspired to create an e-zine! The most impressing fact about it is she’s 13! Many people that age are concerned with other material things, but she put someone else first in her life–God.  Congrats, Anna! May the Holy Spirit continue to lead you!!

Contributors and illustrators - Anna is also looking for some help.

Here’s her link - check it out:   http://www.faithfulmagazine.webs.com/index.htm/

God Bless you all!!

UPDATE ON MAGAZINE’S NEEDS

August 20th, 2008 by mylightmagazine

I was recently asked if there are any particular needs for September.
We’re pretty much set - unless you have a puzzle or activity to provide. Here’s a current needs list for October, November and December

October:

  • 2 stories 4-6
  • prayers
  • coloring pages
  • articles 4-6; 7-9
  • Bible Story
  • Craft
  • Puzzles

November:

  • 1 poem
  • coloring pages
  • 2 stories 4-6; 7-9, 10-12
  • 1 article 4-6; 7-9; 10-12
  • Bible Story
  • Craft
  • prayers
  • puzzles
    * Be creative with the crafts and stories - the kids will have probably had thier fill of typical Thanksgiving stories/crafts. You can still submit under these themes, but try to shake it up a bit. This may be a great place for historical fiction for stories.

December:

  • 3 poems
  • coloring pages
  • 2 stories 4-6; 7-9; 10-12
  • Articles 4-6; 7-9; 10-12
  • craft
  • puzzles
  • prayer

Also for all months - I’m collecting articles on Saints. I want to put
up a “Favorite Saints” section on the website. This is ongoing and would
remain online - 500-800 words. To ensure it doesn’t get mixed up with
regular submissions, put “Saints Project” in the subject line.

Also, in your research, have you come across any great Catholic links?
Please let me know about them so I can post them to the website. These
can be blogs, websites and other Catholic pages.

           CALL FOR ILLUSTRATIONS!

My Light Magazine is in need of more illustrators. We need colorful, bright illustrations. We have many talented illustrators on board, however since this work is on a volunteer basis for now, I prefer not to over work anyone.

Check out the debut issue of My Light Magazine at http://mylightmagazine.com. If you think you’d be able to help us out, please contact Editor Jennifer Gladen with 3 art samples at editor@mylightmagazine.com.

Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour

August 7th, 2008 by mylightmagazine

Below is some information about a cause called the “Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour.”  Though many of us can’t attend personally, maybe we can offer an extra prayer on October 3rd in honor of the Blessed Sacrament. Also, parents and teachers, check out the link at the end of this post. It offers more information about this cause.

***************

The following is posted with permission:

Greetings from Rome!

My name is Father Patrick Byrne and I am the General Secretary of the Holy Childhood Association, and I am very happy to announce to you,  that I will be joining you for the Sixth Annual “Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour.

This is also the 100th anniversary of Blessed Francisco; he was one of the three children from Fatima, of the little shepherds, who always wanted to pray before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

I ‘m inviting you to join with me and with Blessed Francisco’s and the prayers of the school children who will be gathered at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC on First Friday, October 3rd.

We will have a lovely procession crown a lovely statue of Our Lady of Fatima, and pray before the Blessed Sacrament and join in the World Mission Rosary.

EWTN will broadcast this event to over 40 different nations, spiritually uniting the prayers of our world’s children.

I am encouraging all parishes all the schools to gather children and families before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, giving them the unique opportunity to participate in this Worldwide Eucharistic Holy Hour, to pray for peace in our families and in our world.

The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI counts on the prayers of the children he knows that you are part of the mission of the church, so please join in!

To keep us all united please visit us @ www.childrenoftheeucharist.org

May God Bless you , Guide you and Keep you safe!

I’ve also added the link to our Catholic links section.
