Hi My Light readers and contributors!
The October 2008 issue of My Light Magazine is now up at http://mylightmagazine.com .
One of the big focouses of this issue was Saint Francis of Assisi. There’s a puzzle about him, an article, a story and even some Paper Dolls by Candace J. Hardy. Diane Smit did a great job on her retelling of the Bible story: Jesus Blesses Children.
There’s so much fun packed in this issue. So go ahead over and take a look! Don’t forget to stop at the comments page to tell us about your visit.
Contributors:
Be sure to check out our Current Needs page. I have specific ideas listed on what I’d like to see in November, December, January and February.
Enjoy the issue!

A regular contributor of My Light Magazine, Tanjia Cilia passed on this interesting link to me:
Catholic Textbook Project. The project goal is to come up with 10 Catholic textbooks for use in schools, home-schools, and for other educational purposes. While it looks like they have enough authors, I still felt the need to share this with everyone. If you know of anyone who might be able to help as far as prayers and donations go, I’m sure the project administrators would appreciate it.
This is absolutely a wonderful way to help spread God’s Word.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pennsylvania (September 29, 2008) –My Light Magazine announces a new member of the My Light Team. Jaclyn Morales has been named assistant editor and will assist with submissions and planning of the magazine. She is a current student at the Institute of Children’s Literature and holds a BS in Journalism from St. John’s University. “When I was a kid I used to make imaginary newspapers,” Ms. Morales states. “I used to hand write, draw, and circulate it around my house. So it wasn’t a shock that I went for a BS in Journalism.”
Ms. Morales is excited to join us here at My Light Magazine. “The thing I love the best is that I get to merge many passions into My Light – my faith (I have attended catholic school from grade school through college) and writing for children. I get to teach children to love to read and love God as well.”
My Light Magazine looks forward to working with Jaclyn Morales. Author submissions should be sent to her at JaclynMorales@mylightmagazine.com . For content suggestions, please visit http://mylightmagazine.com .

A few days ago, I cam across a wonderful Catholic Magazine. Their Patron Saint is St. Maria Gorretti and is titled “Saint Maria’s Messenger.” The beautifully designed site covers items in the Catholic faith, particularly relevant to girls ages “ten through teen.” Check it out if you get a chance: Saint Maria’s Messenger

I was so excited to find out about a wonderful mission Editor Anna Snape is working on. She, too, has been inspired to create an e-zine! The most impressing fact about it is she’s 13! Many people that age are concerned with other material things, but she put someone else first in her life–God. Congrats, Anna! May the Holy Spirit continue to lead you!!
Contributors and illustrators - Anna is also looking for some help.
Here’s her link - check it out: http://www.faithfulmagazine.webs.com/index.htm/
God Bless you all!!

I was recently asked if there are any particular needs for September.
We’re pretty much set - unless you have a puzzle or activity to provide. Here’s a current needs list for October, November and December
October:
- 2 stories 4-6
- prayers
- coloring pages
- articles 4-6; 7-9
- Bible Story
- Craft
- Puzzles
November:
- 1 poem
- coloring pages
- 2 stories 4-6; 7-9, 10-12
- 1 article 4-6; 7-9; 10-12
- Bible Story
- Craft
- prayers
- puzzles
* Be creative with the crafts and stories - the kids will have probably had thier fill of typical Thanksgiving stories/crafts. You can still submit under these themes, but try to shake it up a bit. This may be a great place for historical fiction for stories.
December:
- 3 poems
- coloring pages
- 2 stories 4-6; 7-9; 10-12
- Articles 4-6; 7-9; 10-12
- craft
- puzzles
- prayer
Also for all months - I’m collecting articles on Saints. I want to put
up a “Favorite Saints” section on the website. This is ongoing and would
remain online - 500-800 words. To ensure it doesn’t get mixed up with
regular submissions, put “Saints Project” in the subject line.
Also, in your research, have you come across any great Catholic links?
Please let me know about them so I can post them to the website. These
can be blogs, websites and other Catholic pages.
